Stories and yarns with Bubups (2022)

Circus Nexus in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) ran a program in the first half of 2020 called ‘Stories and Yarns with Bubups’. Aboriginal children aged 2-5 years in out of home care (OOHC) in and around Darebin, and their foster and Kinship carers, played with stories, art, dance and circus to get physical and build trust, and to create an illustrated storybook and live performance that will support the children to develop greater school readiness skills and stronger connections to culture. It also helped Kinship and foster Carers become more confident and informed about school readiness and ways to support connection to culture and link them to available supports and resources including kindergarten programs.
